Teaser For Final Misfits Season Revealed

A teaser trailer for the fifth and final season of E4's cult hit Misfits has been unveiled online.

The show is returning for a final eight episodes soon, and this brief trailer gives a quick look at the sort of action that Rudy (Joseph Gilgun), Jess (Karla Crome), Finn (Nathan McMullen), Alex (Matt Stokoe) and Abby (Natasha O'Keeffe) are in for before they make their exit.

It would be fair to say that the fourth season of the show was received far less favourably than previous seasons. The show survived the loss of lead character Nathan (Robert Sheehan) after season two purely through the strength of replacement Joseph Gilgun's performance (even those who vowed off the show when Nathan left have grudingly admitted that Rudy is actually a far better character). But after the death of Alisha and Simon in the third season finale (well, Simon technically died a season and a half before but... it's complicated), the failure of Lauren Socha to return as Kelly in a move that definitely didn't mean she was fired after it turned out that she was a vile racist bully, and the loss of Seth and Curtis during the run all added up to a show that was just too turbulent. And it didn't help that, with lots of character introduced for only a few episodes before leaving again, viewers were left a bit unsure as to which characters even made up the core cast.

Now though, the new cast will hopefully be more established, and some stability will be returned to the show. It would be a shame if what had been appointment viewing a few years ago went out on a wimper.

Not that that's the plan - in the words of Roberto Troni, Channel 4 drama commissioning editor, "Like the characters in the show, it won't be going quietly."

Glad to hear it.
