Olsen Confirmed For Scarlet Witch

Elizabeth Olsen has finally been confirmed as playing Wanda Maximoff - aka Superhero The Scarlet Witch - in 2015's Avengers: Age Of Ultron.

That the 24-year-old Martha Marcy May Marlene star would take the role has been one of the worst kept secrets in comic book movie news this year, but it's nice to get some official confirmation.

Confirmation that, oddly, came from The Wall Street Journal, when Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) let it slip.

"I don't think we begin shooting before March of next year. I know we're shooting in London, that James Spader is Ultron and going to be the bad guy, and that we added Ms Olsen" says Jackson.

There is still no confirmed actor the role of her brother, Quicksilver, but Aaron Taylor-Johnson of Kick-Ass fame is pretty much as good as known for the role.

It's unclear how the movies will handle Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver - although the characters are mutants, and the children of Magneto, the fact that the X-Men franchise is owned by a different studio means that mentioning this (even using the word "mutant") is strictly forbidden. Hell, Quicksilver is also set for a minor role in next year's X-Men: Days Of Future Past, played by a different actor.

Olsen and Taylor-Johnson can be seen together in next year's Godzilla.

Avengers: Age Of Ultron also stars Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Chris Evans, Chris Hemworth, Scarlett Johansson and Cobie Smulders, and is out in May 2015.
