The Villain From U.N.C.L.E.

Luca Calvani has been cast as the villain in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

The Italian actor, sadly probably most recognisable to US audiences for appearing in soap opera The Bold And The Beautiful (and likely entirely unknown to British viewers) will play head-bastard Alexander in the upcoming spy flick.

The movie makes the interesting - but very welcome - move of bucking the trend to modernise the source material (unlike Miami Vice or 21 Jump Street) by setting the story in the 60s, as the series was. The film will see Solo (Henry Cavill) and Kuryakin (Armie Hammer, no doubt hoping for more success than the last time he tried to bring a small-screen icon back to the big screen) on a mission to "stop a mysterious international criminal organization, which is bent on destabilizing the fragile balance of power through the proliferation of nuclear weapons and technology."

Also starring Hugh Grant and Mad Men's Jared Harris, and with a script from Guy Ritchie, The Man From U.N.C.L.E. began filming on the 9th of September. No release date has been set as yet.
