The Walking Dead Gets Record Ratings

The Walking Dead has received its highest ever ratings with its fourth season premiere, bringing in 16.1 million viewers with last night's episode.

AMC President Charlie Collier said of the ratings: "Sincere thanks to the fans, who have welcomed The Walking Dead back for its fourth season with the highest-rated episode in the show's history.

"We could not be more proud of this show and everyone on both sides of the camera who work so hard to give life to this story of character, leadership and survival."

The epsiode is expected to hit more than 20m when timeshift viewers are taken into consideration.

Meanwhile, in the casting news that everyone has been waiting for, it has been revealed that the role of Sgt. Abraham Ford will be played by Southland's Michael Cudlitz. Josh McDermitt will play Eugene.

Speaking of his casting, Cudlitz tweeted: "BOOM!!! ..... #SGT.ABRAHAM FORD ..... @WalkingDead_AMC"

If only all casting announcements were so enthusiastic.

Christian Serratos had previously been cast as Rosita.

Looks like we're leaving the prison come mid-season, then...
