Iron Man 3 Actor Heads To Jurassic World

Ty Simpkins, who played Tony Stark's pre-teen buddy in this Summer's Iron Man 3, has scored a leading role in upcoming dinofest Jurassic World, according to Deadline.

The 12-year-old already has a very strong CV, having also appeared in The War Of The Worlds (also fronted by Jurassic World producer Steven Spielberg), the spooky Insidious franchise, and award-bait Revolutionary Road, all at an age when most of us were still playing with conkers and Pogs.

He may be in one of the biggest grossing movies of all time, but did he have all the Mini Boglins?
Checkmate, Simpkins...

The news that a child star is in the film may well make some fans groan: Tim and Lex were hardly the best thing about the first movie, and the less said about Ian Malcom's daughter in The Lost World the better.

Killing raptors through the power of gymnastics...

But personally, I quite like this casting. The general consensus about this movie is that all involved are trying to bring back that feeling of awe that we all felt when we first walked with dinosaurs in the original Jurassic Park, and nobody can do "sense of wonder" like a child. And if you have to have a sprog in the film, you may as well go with a very talented one.

Also starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Jurassic World is out in 3D on the 12th of June 2015.
