Pirates 5 Slips To 2016

Disney have confirmed that the fifth entry into their Pirates Of The Caribbean mega-franchise, Dead Men Tell No Tales, will not release until 2016.

Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed that the reason for the delay is the script, which, while promising, simply is "not done." The box-office success - or lack thereof - of this year's Lone Ranger also no doubt plays a part, with Bruckheimer admitting to being "more cautious" with the quality of the latest Pirates flick.

Little is known about the storyline, other than that it will "involve ghosts and witches", and possibly the Bermuda triangle. Johnny Depp is of course on board as Jack Sparrow

"Captain Jack Sparrow"

but there's no word on any other confirmed cast members, returning or new. That said, expect Kevin MacNally at least to reprise his role as Gibbs, while Barbossa is reportedly expected back, his character teaming up with a ghost on a "revenge mission". A new female lead  - scientist - is also promised, implying that Penelope Cruz may have to wait a while before she uses that voodoo doll.

Everyone waits with baited breath to see if these guys will be back.

Don't worry, though, there's still a few big films slated for 2015, in the form of Bond, Fantastic Four, Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Terminator 5, Prometheus 2, Jurrassic World, Batman vs. Superman, Ant-Man, Mission: Impossible 5, Hunger Games: Mockingjay pt. 2, Independence Day 2, Star Wars Episode VII...
