Pirates 5 Slips To 2016

Disney have confirmed that the fifth entry into their Pirates Of The Caribbean mega-franchise, Dead Men Tell No Tales, will not release until 2016.

Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed that the reason for the delay is the script, which, while promising, simply is "not done." The box-office success - or lack thereof - of this year's Lone Ranger also no doubt plays a part, with Bruckheimer admitting to being "more cautious" with the quality of the latest Pirates flick.

Little is known about the storyline, other than that it will "involve ghosts and witches", and possibly the Bermuda triangle. Johnny Depp is of course on board as Jack Sparrow

"Captain Jack Sparrow"

but there's no word on any other confirmed cast members, returning or new. That said, expect Kevin MacNally at least to reprise his role as Gibbs, while Barbossa is reportedly expected back, his character teaming up with a ghost on a "revenge mission". A new female lead  - scientist - is also promised, implying that Penelope Cruz may have to wait a while before she uses that voodoo doll.

Everyone waits with baited breath to see if these guys will be back.

Don't worry, though, there's still a few big films slated for 2015, in the form of Bond, Fantastic Four, Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Terminator 5, Prometheus 2, Jurrassic World, Batman vs. Superman, Ant-Man, Mission: Impossible 5, Hunger Games: Mockingjay pt. 2, Independence Day 2, Star Wars Episode VII...

Kim Raver Set For Return To 24?

TV Line are reporting that Kim Raver is nearing a deal to return to 24 for the upcoming mini-series "Live Another Day".

Kim, who played Audrey Raines for three seasons on the hit FOX show, was last seen at the end of Day Six when her character had her brain tinkered with by some shady Chinese agents. It wasn't the stupidest thing about that season...

This was

24: Live Another Day stars Kiefer Sutherland and Mary Lynn Rajskub, and will run for 12 episodes in 2014.

Is This The New Godzilla?

An image recently appeared on Twitter, before being swiftly removed. Please bear in mind that this is not confirmed, but it looks plausible.

It looks exactly like the 'Zilla we were expecting from the new movie - recognisable as the big lizard instantly, but updated enough so as not to look too cheesy. Whether that makes it more or less likely to be authentic is up to you.

I don't know about you, but the new Godzilla movie is high on my list of anticipated features - it's being helmed by Gareth Edwards, who was behind 2010s superb and desperately unappreciated Monsters, for a start.

Starring Kick-Ass's Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Inception's Ken Watanabe, Martha Marcy May Marlene's [and rumuoured future Scarlet Witch] Elizabeth Olsen and Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston (yes!), Godzilla releases next May.

First Glimps Of Daniel Radcliffe In "Horns".

 You're a horny devil, 'Arry...

A brief clip of Daniel Radcliffe in the upcoming adaptation of Joe Hill's Horns has surfaced on YouTube, showing his character, Ignatious Parrish, in a tense confrontation with an unknown character played by David Morse.

Horns is based on the novel of the same name, Hill's sophmore effort from a few years back. As Parrish,  Radcliffe plays a young man believed by the whole town - including, painfully, his own family, to have raped and murdered his girlfriend. He's at a loss, until one day he starts to literally embrace his inner-demons. Hill's trademark "broken" characters and surprising warmth combine to make this the weirdest damn murder mystery you're likely to experience this decade. And while Radcliffe seems like a bit of an odd choice for Ig, being a bit too clean-cut (though a better choice than Shia Lebeouf, who pulled out in the early stages of production), the film also stars Juno Temple as the ill-fated Merrin, continuing her quiet but assured rise to becoming one of Britain's most exciting exports of recent years.

The movie played at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month, to... mixed reviews, but Hill himself claims that Radcliffe's performance is "wrenching, vulnerable [and] emotionally naked." So there is that.

The source material is fantastic, and Daniel Radcliffe is at least slightly less miscast than he was in the surprisingly good Woman in Black last year, so this could still be one to watch out for. Dodgy accent aside.

Also starring James Remar, Max Minghella and Heather Graham, Horns releases worldwide in 2014.

Jurrassic Park 4 Gets A Name Change

Yep, the fourth entry in the franchise is now officially called Jurrassic World, complete with snazzy new logo.

Presumably, this is more of a "Seaworld" kinda thing, what with the new movie's focus on an open park filled with aquatic dinosaurs, rather than a Planet Of The Apes-style "Dinos have taken over" deal.

Jurrasic World is slated to open to visitors July 2015.

More New Shows For The Doctor Who Anniversary Weekend Announced.

As well as "exclusively" revealing the poster for The Day Of The Doctor (see below), the Beeb have given us a few more details on the upcoming celebration shows via the BBC One Facebook page.

First up, more info on the BBC Three shows: There's a "Monsters And Villains" weekend, a
countdown to the top DW monster as voted for by the viewers, "The Ultimate Guide", which is the previously revealed talking heads show, and a "further exciting commission" yet to be unveiled.

CBBC are getting in on the action with two live Blue Peter episodes and a Who-themed episode of 12 Again, with guests including Louise Jameson (Leela).

Radio 2 get another show, as David Quantick presents "The Blaggers Guide To Doctor Who".

Radio 1 will present "Time Lord Rock", about a genre of music inspired by Who (?)

Radio 4 Extra presents  "Who Made Who?", a special program  looking  "at the world that inspired the television series. Doctor Who may have come from other times, but his roots were very much in the present of 1960s Britain. This distinctive programme combines audio from the archive, new interviews and extracts from audio versions of Doctor Who."

On top of that, the station will broadcast readings and dramas featuring the Doctor. Not sure if these will be Big Finish plays or entirely new stories.

And finally Graham Norton will present his R2 show live from the Doctor Who Celebration on the day itself.

Seriously, take that, Corrie.

Is it November yet?

Possible New Poster For "The Day Of The Doctor"

Now there have obviously been quite a few fake fanmade posters for the 50th anniversarry episode, to say the least, but this one seems to carry some weight.

First off, we know that the actual poster has been completed, and revealing it at the same time as the announcement of the episode's name that (accidentally?) happened earlier today makes a lot of sense.

And that picture of Hurt doesn't seem to be a shopped picture from any of his other roles.

Fake or not, I just think this is a really cool poster, to be honest.

And let the "Bad Wolf" speculation begin...

EDIT: And the BBC have just revealed it via their Twitter. Not had a great day for keeping secrets, have they...?
