Spidey 2 Trailer - Spot The Supervillains

So the trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has arrived, and for the last few days superhero fans have been taking it apart to see if they can spot any hidden easter eggs.

The stars and producers have made no secret of the fact that Spidey will be facing Electro, Rhino and The Green Goblin [seemingly in the form of Dane DeHaan's Harry, rather than Chris Cooper's Norman Osborne] in next Spring's blockbuster, while Colm Feore is confirmed to be playing future Vulture Adrian Toomes. It is also widely understood that the third or fourth film (both already confirmed) will feature the Sinister Six, so it comes as no surprise that the seeds are being sown for future enemies in this film.

And so it is that in an Oscorp lab in the trailer we can see Vulture's wings and Doc Ock's tentacles, just waiting for the wrong hands to come along and misuse them.

The more eagle-eyed true believers, though, have spotted references to both Venom (no surprise) and Morbius The Living Vampire (very welcome surprise)  on a list of Oscorp projects seen in the trailer. Fun but irrelevent references, or hints of the future? Only time will tell.

Mind you, the franchise has a poor history when it comes to trailers - the clip for the first Amazing Spider-Man essentially advertised a completely different film to the one we were ultimately given, while this trailer features Shailene Woodley's Mary-Jane Watson, a character confirmed to have been totally cut from the final flick.

So maybe there's no point speculating at all...

Also starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Sally Field, Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamatti, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opens in the UK on April 18, 2014 and May 2, 2014 in the US.
