Dinklage Talks Trask

Peter Dinklage has been discussing his role in the upcoming X-Men: Days Of Future Past with Entertainment Weekly.

Dinklage will play Bolivar Trask, the inventor of the iconic mutant-hunting Sentinels in the feature, which will unite the casts of the first three X-Men movies and 2010's X-Men: First Class.

"I didn't want to play the villain," Dinklage says. "He's a man of science. He's a man of invention.

"He actually sees what he's doing as a good thing - [his ambition is] definitely blind and he's quite arrogant. He's strove all his life for a certain respect and attention."

X-Men: Days Of Future Past is out on the 22nd May in the UK, and the 23rd May in the US, and also stars Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Boo Boo Stewart, Adan Canto, Evan Peters, Josh Helman and Lucas Till.

Karen Gillan Talks Guardians/Avengers Crossover Potential

Karen Gillan has been talking to Total Film about the possibility of Guardians Of The Galaxy interacting with other entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

"That sounds really cool, not something I've heard anything about, but that would be amazing. I would be open to that," she said, when asked about the possibility of a Guardians-Avengers movie.

Gillan - who plays the villainous Nebula in the film - went on to discuss the differences between Guardians of the Galaxy and last Summer's Avengers Assemble.

"What's different about Guardians is that everybody is a villain. There's just good guys within the bad guys," she added.

...And back in hairier times

Marvel have previously said that, at least up until 2015's Age Of Ultron, there will be no crossovers between the main Avengers movies and Guardians Of The Galaxy, although Guardians is widely expected to feature the villainous Thanos, first brought to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Avengers Assemble.

Also starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Dave Bautista, Benicio Del Toro, Michael Rooker and Glenn Close, Guardians of the Galaxy will be released on August 1, 2014.

Episode VII Casting Rumours Continue

It's been nearly a week since Latino Review have claimed to know who's going to be in Star Wars Episode VII, but our short-lived peace has been shattered.

They're now reporting that 300: Rise Of An Empire star Sullivan Stapleton is in the running, with their old failsafe "read for an unspecified role" line.

Latino Review seem to be going for a bold policy of linking pretty much every actor currently working with "unspecified roles" in the hotly anticipated movie, presumably so that when the cast is announced they can claim to have accurately reported on every single cast member, while ignoring th edozens and dozens of inaccurate names they've thrown into the mix. Sadly, at this rate, it'll probably work.

Meanwhile, Saoirse Ronan has followed in the footsteps of previous Latino Review target Benedict Cumberbatch by laughing off the rumours that she is to appear in Episode VII, joking to Digital Spy that "Everyone on the planet has auditioned for that movie."

Which, to be honest, is not too far off what Latino Review have been reporting over the last few months.

Star Wars Episode VII stars everyone on the planet, and will be in cinemas in 2015

Day Of The Doctor For Worldwide Simulcast

The Day Of The Doctor is to receive a worldwide Simulcast, it has been revealed.

It was already known that the episode would air on the same day in the UK and the US, but now the BBC have confirmed that the episode will air at the same time in at least seventy-five countries, including the UK, US, Australia and Canada.

Says showrunner Steven Moffat on the move "The Doctor has always been a time traveller - now he's travelling time zones. On the 23rd of November, it won't be the bad guys conquering the Earth - everywhere it will be 'The Day of the Doctor'!"

There is no word as yet as to what time the episode will air, but I'm predicting 5:15pm GMT - the original air time of the very first episode all those years ago. The same timeslot was used for last year's Christmas special The Snowmen, which was a ratings success, so the BBC know that they can make this work, and it would also prevent BBC One from resceduling either Strictly or Atlantis, their current double-act ratings defense against ITV's The X Factor.

Starring Matt Smith, David Tennant, Jenna Coleman, Billie Piper and John Hurt, The Day Of The Doctor airs worldwide, and in 3D in select UK cinemas, on 23rd November.

Silver Chair Coming To Big Screen

The Chronicles Of Narnia are to continue on the big screen, with a deal being reached between The Mark Gordon Company and The CS Lewis Company to adapt The Silver Chair, the fourth novel in the saga.

All had been quiet on the Narnia front after 2010's Voyage Of The Dawn Treader, and it had been assumed that the franchise was dead in the water (no pun intended), so this news comes as a very welcome surprise.

Gordon, who will produce, says of the project: "Like many readers, both young and old, I am a huge fan of CS Lewis's beautiful and allegorical world of Narnia. These fantasy stories inspire real-world passion among millions of devoted fans around the world. As we prepare to bring the next book to life, we are humbled and excited to contribute to the outstanding legacy of Narnia."

Meanwhile, CS Lewis's stepson Douglas Gresham stated: "I have a great deal of respect for Mark Gordon's work and am confident that together we can bring the beauty and magical delight that Narnia engenders in the hearts of those who read the books to the screen in The Silver Chair. I am very much looking forward to diving once more into Narnia, this time with Mark Gordon and his team."

There's no word on casting yet, but presumably Liam Neeson will return to voice Aslan and Will Poulter will return as Eustace. And it's worth noting that the BBC adaptation of the novel made the deliberate move of casting Barbara Kellerman as the story's antagonistic Green Lady, so the precendent is set for Tilda Swinton to play the role in the movie should Gordon and co. decide to follow suit.

The previous films in the franchise have made a combined $1.6b worldwide. There is no release date set for The Silver Chair as yet.

The Simpsons To Kill Off "Iconic" Character

Al Jean has claimed that an iconic character will be killed in The Simsons' 25th season.

No word on who the character may be, but Jean says that the character is one voiced by somebody who has won an Emmy for their voice work on the show. This follows the recent announcement that Family Guy is also set to kill off a main character.

So, for fun, here's the list of every character played by somebody who has won an Emmy for voice work on The Simpsons.

Bart
Marge

Start your guesses, people (and pray that it will be less... crap than the time they killed Maude Flanders)

Waid Wants Hulk Movie

Incredible Hulk comics supremo Mark Waid has expressed his desire for a Mark Ruffalo-lead Hulk movie.

Speaking to Newsarama, Waid said of Ruffalo's take on the character: "He's tailor made for a film adventure.

"Wasn't he the breakaway star of Avengers? He was in my theatre, I'll tell you that.

"[Ruffalo is] spot-on. I love how he's more driven than tormented, and the Bruce Banner/Tony Stark bromance is positively inspirational."

In all the discussions of Phase Three, a Hulk movie has yet to be mentioned. No doubt the main problem is just how luke-warm (at best) the reception was for the first Marvelverse Hulk movie, which starred Edward Norton (whose dickbaggery prevented him from returning in Avengers Assemble - something that definitely proved to be for the best thanks to Ruffalo's exceptional performance), and the previous Ang Lee helmed Hulk flick.

The fact is that no big-screen solo outing for Big Green has been any good, really.

But Waid's right, Ruffalo definietly stole the show in The Avengers. Do the right thing, Marvel, give him his own movie.

Ruffalo will return as Bruce Banner in 2015's Avengers: Age Of Ultron. He was last seen in this Summer's Iron Man 3.
