Al Jean has claimed that an iconic character will be killed in The Simsons' 25th season.
No word on who the character may be, but Jean says that the character is one voiced by somebody who has won an Emmy for their voice work on the show. This follows the recent announcement that Family Guy is also set to kill off a main character.

Incredible Hulk comics supremo Mark Waid has expressed his desire for a Mark Ruffalo-lead Hulk movie.
Speaking to Newsarama, Waid said of Ruffalo's take on the character: "He's tailor made for a film adventure.
"Wasn't he the breakaway star of Avengers? He was in my theatre, I'll tell you that.
"[Ruffalo
is] spot-on. I love how he's more driven than tormented, and the Bruce
Banner/Tony Stark bromance is positively inspirational."
In all the discussions of Phase Three, a Hulk movie has yet to be mentioned. No doubt the main problem is just how luke-warm (at best) the reception was for the first Marvelverse Hulk movie, which starred Edward Norton (whose dickbaggery prevented him from returning in Avengers Assemble - something that definitely proved to be for the best thanks to Ruffalo's exceptional performance), and the previous Ang Lee helmed Hulk flick.
The fact is that no big-screen solo outing for Big Green has been any good, really.
But Waid's right, Ruffalo definietly stole the show in The Avengers. Do the right thing, Marvel, give him his own movie.
Ruffalo will return as Bruce Banner in 2015's Avengers: Age Of Ultron. He was last seen in this Summer's Iron Man 3.
James Spader has been talking to The Indepenendent about his upcoming role as Ultron in Joss Whedon's Avengers sequel.
"I think it'll be a lot of fun and it's incredibly nostalgic for me," he says.
"When
I was a kid my best friend had trunks of comics and I didn't have any
so I used to love going for sleepovers at his house. Also I have three
sons and two of them have a great interest in comics so they're excited
I'm playing the role."
Ultron has long been a popular villain in the comics, but it is uncertain how his origin will play out on the big screen. Traditionally, the evil robot is the creation of Hank Pym, but Pym is confirmed to not appear in the Cinematic Marvelverse until a few months after Age Of Ultron is released, with Summer 2015's Ant Man. How Ultron will come to be is one of the movie's biggest mysteries at the moment, although it's probably a fair guess to say that it will be Tony Stark who creates the metal meanie instead (after all, wasn't he just seen experimenting on suits that could operate without him in Iron Man 3?)
Meanwhile, Marvel fans are still waiting to hear who will be playing brother-sister duo (and, for legal reasons, definitely not Magneto's mutant offspring in this canon) Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. It's long been believed that Aaron Taylor-Johnson of Kick-Ass, and Martha Marcy May Marlene's Elizabeth Olsen have done all but sign on the dotted line, but official confirmation is still yet to come.

Oscar-winning Hunger Games and X-Men actress Jennifer Lawrence has reportedly spent a day on the set of Dumb And Dumber To, filming a cameo appearance.
Lawrence will apparently play a younger version of Kathleen Turner's character Fraida Feltcher in the comedy sequel.
Dumb And Dumber To sees Jim Carrey and recent Emmy-winner Jeff Daniels reprise their roles of Harry and Lloyd, setting out on a roadtrip to meet Harry's long-lost daughter.
Lawrence recently cited the original (which turns twenty next year...) as one of her favourite comedies.
Also starring The Walking Dead's Laurie Holden, Dumb And Dumber To is out in 2014
Betsy Brandt has been talking about filming tonight's series finale to Access Hollywood.
The actress, who plays kleptomaniac mineral-misnamer Marie Schrader said "There were days shooting - these last eight episodes especially - I
just felt sick. My chest would get all tight and I just felt awful.
"After we'd get a take then I'd just sort of start sobbing because you gotta get it out before you go home."
Brandt went on to say that the episode is "the perfect ending for this show."
"Felina" airs tonight on AMC in the US, and will be available tomorrow morning on Netflix in the UK.
Horrible Bosses 2 has been given a Thanksgiving 2014 release date in the US.
The 2011 comedy (perhaps most famous for those scenes with Jennifer Aniston) was a very welcome hit, and one of the year's best of its genre. But honestly, it's hard to see why a sequel is really needed.
Nevertheless, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis and Jason Bateman are all on board for the project, to be directed by Sean Anders, and if they can recapture the warm interplay and cameradrie that made their interactions in the first film such a joy, then there's no reason why Horrible Bosses 2 can't repeat the success of the first. Especially if they bring Jamie Foxx's Motherfucker Jones along for the ride.
The movie hits the US on the 26th November 2014. A UK release date is yet to be set. See the trailer for the first movie below.
BBC One have begun their promotional campaign for The Day Of The Doctor.
Last night's premiere of Atlantis saw the debut of two teasers for the special episode. No footage was shown, but we did get a new slogan for the episode.
Fans have been complaining lately about a lack of a proper trailer, although realistically the BBC would be better served releasing one closer to the time for maximum hype.
Still, this is a good start, and the "Save The Day" motto is sure to get keyboards across the Internet a-tapping.
The Day Of The Doctor stars Matt Smith, David Tennant, Jenna Coleman, Billie Piper and John Hurt, and will air on the 23rd November on BBC One and BBC America.
